Performing Arts allow a unique learning opportunity for your child where their confidence and self-esteem can soar.
Creative expression also fosters empathy, problem solving, collaboration and resilience.
Pupils experience drama and public speaking as part of their English Curriculum. They also have opportunities to perform in Poetry Competitions, Public Speaking Competitions and Balloon debates.
There are various productions throughout the year including Pre-Prep Nativities, Junior Productions, Year 5 Plays and the Leavers Production- not forgetting ‘St Andrew’s Got Talent’!
In addition the School runs Drama Clubs for the Pre-Prep, Juniors and Seniors and LAMDA (a nationally recognised acting qualification) classes.
The drama classes involve drama games and activities and cover the basics of drama skills whilst the LAMDA classes, which focus on practical communication and performance, are to provide pupils with the confidence to succeed in life.
The School has its own purpose built drama studio and is looking to develop a Performing Arts Centre. In addition to performing, pupils also have the opportunity to learn about stage management and operate the School’s professional sound and light equipment.
