Packing your own overnight bag and staying away from home is an important part of growing up.

Whether it’s sipping mugs of marshmallow-topped cocoa and curling up on the sofa, playing board games or whizzing around on roller blades, St Andrew’s offers a family atmosphere to all of its boarders.

Kirsty Parkhouse and the rest of the boarding team work hard to provide a caring, family environment and to provide lots of opportunities for the boarders.

At St Andrew’s we offer flexi-boarding to boys and girls.  This means that pupils can board midweek, Monday to Thursday or can opt for one-off stays.

The ethos of boarding is one of extending the family atmosphere of the School with an emphasis on activities - after prep is completed for the older ones!  In recent terms these have included camp-fires, cycling, climbing, bake-off cookery sessions, crafts, trampolining, sports tournaments and playing hide-and-seek around the school and grounds.

The boarding offered is an ideal introduction to living with others away from home and an excellent preparation for senior school.

The School has two boarding wings and a total of 25 beds organised into 4 dormitories.  The dormitories are bright and cheery rooms.

Pupils boarding on a regular basis may choose to bring in their own duvet cover to make them feel more at home, and photos for their own pinboard.  In addition to the bedrooms there is a quiet area and also a Games Room with TV, table-football and a pool table.

There is always a qualified first aider on site.

Please click here for a list of equipment that you might need to bring for an overnight stay and the right of this page to see the boarding handbook and all the information boarders might need.  Please don’t be embarrassed about bringing your teddy bear - even the Year 8's bring theirs!

Please be aware that your booking is not confirmed until you receive a confirmation email.

Good Schools Guide“Boarders love the experience – hot chocolate and toast in the common room, summer evenings playing tennis, swimming or ‘just lying on the grass talking’."
