Years 3 &4

The Junior Department (Years 3 and 4) is housed in the modern Harding building and it encompasses four classrooms, each with its own Form Teacher. Year 3 and Year 4 each have two parallel classes with a maximum class size of 18.

The Junior Department benefits from a generous allocation of resources and contact with specialist teachers in the Main School who work closely with the Form Teachers. All pupils receive specialist teaching in French, Religious Studies, Music, Art, Games and Physical Education, Science and ICT. Most of these lessons take place in their respective Main School facilities, for example, the new Music Centre, Science Laboratories, Art Room and Computer Room. English, Mathematics, History, Geography and PSHE are taught by the Form Teacher. The timetable also allows for daily sports and games coaching or fixtures. There is also a programme of educational visits and workshops.

The Junior day is from 08:25 to 17:25 with after school care provided until 18:00 if required. Children’s progress is regularly evaluated; reports and assessments are sent to parents each term and there are formal parents’ meetings twice per year.
Junior Department staff strive to provide a happy, caring and stimulating environment for learning. Through this pupils gain confidence in their own abilities, develop enquiring minds and become motivated to explore and learn both independently and in co-operation with others.
